    Hey Guys

I played on this server a lot back then some months ago and we had Monster server 1-2 and not this north / east / south system. It is better in some way? Because I'm trying to play on north but its mostly down and it's hard to reconnect due to server lobby, monster lobby, sometimes it drops me to east, etc.

Since as i read it's still one server, what's the point of slicing up things that much? When i played on Monster 1 server was always up and there was no lag. And it was only beta so it had problems.

    Just wondering

There is an important difference between server as in "minecraft server instance" and the actual server machine that instance is running on. The monster servers are different processes, they just run on the same machine.

The reason for us choosing this architecture is the fact that the minecraft server program is single threaded. Modern computers have multiple CPU cores, but each server process can only use one. By splitting the servers, we created multiple processes which each use a different core, that makes a great performance improvement.

True, monster north is currently having a bunch of issues, but at least the other servers are still working. In a single server system, the stuff now lagging m north would lag the whole server, and it would actually be worse as it would also contain the other server's load.

Monster north has heavy issues which we couldn't solve after weeks with custom plugins for debugging... As this issue only occurs on north we have decided to shut it down soon. Please grab all your stuff and move to one of the other servers. :)
