Hello everyone, today I was thinking about having a donor server for most modpacks and I was thinking about the pro's and cons: Pros: -(Supposedly) less people overloading the server; -Usually, donators are people who know about modpacks and it's more likely that they'll be carefull about straining the server; -Giving another reason for people a reason to donate. Cons If this was implemented in already existing modpacks: -Either create a whole new server and using a lot of the network's resources or deleting another one as replacement which will be impractical to do considering non-donors live there; Cons If this was implemented in future modpacks: -(can't think of any) Note: Some might think that a con could be that this would separate the community between donors/non-donors but I think otherwise. If the chat system where you can talk with people from other nodes (like Infinity) I don't believe this would pose as a problem. This is just me brainstorming, I am probably overlooking stuff but that's one of the reasons I made this post, to get an input from other people Thank you for reading and sorry for the long post, All_Mighty_POWA
this never really worked out, MYM had this before, with monster, and some non donors know more than donors, and there would be a HUGE con about that, and they removed this with monster, for a reason, which is why MYM doesn't have this anymore
I know this is something that we have thoroughly discussed in the past in fact its a subject that has come up a couple of times since we started to enact the 1.7 servers. Unfortunately every time this gets brought up it gets down voted. I think that the biggest con is splitting up the community. I personally extremely dislike the idea of splitting up donators from non donators because of how it appears as if we are favoring one group over another. I am very very thankful for all of our donators and we show that by giving certain IG rewards and kits, but to separate them to a different server, I feel goes a step to far. Thank you for your suggestion. I truly appreciate when we get suggestions from our players. It shows that you truly have a willingness to better our community.
Personally for me it would be like the normal server would be with friends( cause nothing gets done) and the donator one would be by myself but i can see why people dislike it
I would rather play on the "public" server. I wouldn't use a donor only server, I don't want exclusivity.
