Direwolf has had a lot of new players, and we're seeing player amount starting to reach the 50's now. This is good. Lots of players are building bases, and working on different mods. They require good protection. Of course they do, as DW20 has left the peaceful times quite literally now. So they make good armour. This is very good. However, The amount of players opting for the infamous power armour, which is very known for the drain in tps, are building up. @Tamaohme and I are often finding ourselves advising players to stop using them, as they hurt the server. We often find the tps drainage list to include players with power armour, and it saddens me to see. We know we moderators have no power to force the players from refraining to use them. We can only advise, inform and ask them to use better armour, like Quantum, Bound, Kami and Flux-infused, which all are much easier on the server. Now, I propose a ban, or at least a much more strict permission to use the power armour. I know a lot of you players who use this armour on DW20 will be mad, yet you are often the ones complaining about the server performance in the chat. What do you want. A server that is playable and fun for all, or keep your armour when there are many other options?
I obviously agree with eAndPi, there are lots of different and better armours and at 70% of the times i profile the server there are always 1 or 2 players in the highest TPS drain.
The power armour is energy dependant, and cast many updates seemingly. The players seen when profiling are 70% of the time using this armour, and and sometimes barely have any inventory. This armour was donator only for a reason on Monster. Just the pants can be upgraded with enough speed to ram past many, many chunks, resulting in loading and unloading a vast amount of chunks in seconds. I'm not sure if these are still active problems or if they are fixed, or if the claims plugin negate these problems, (as they were reported on a towny server), but they are also notorious. Plasma Cannon: Explosion claim-bypass. Blink drive:Skip doors, Teleportation into "secure" areas. Pickaxe/Shovel/Axe:Tool itself Bypasses protections, Coded to complete actions in "OP" mode.
From what I see, the power armor is by for not as problematic as on monster. I see the pneumaticCraft ItemPickUp quite high which I guess is due to the ring from one of the magic mods which lets items follow you around in case of a full inventory. I did profile while only 20 players where online, so it might be that nearly no one of these players was wearing a power armor. I will check again once more players are online. From what I saw atm. the itempickup is around 6 times worse.
when i was wearing PA on dw20 me and me alone took out 5 tps, yes 5 tps just by USING 2 modules, thats HUGE
its not about confirm, I asked for reproduction and verification, that is something else if you look up the definition.
2.8% forestry resupply (there seems to be something that resupplies the player inventory) 2.7% appeng 7% hats on entity spawn(due to high spawn rates) 0.7% morph everything else (which is not forge/vanilla) is far beyond 1%, be aware that 1% is a lot here and can be like 5% on the profiler as the profiler only picks up small parts.
Ill jump on and do so for you. So I jumped on and gave myself maxed out power armour.... This is with 23 other players on the server... one chunk profiling With everything OFF And with everything on: And full server profile: Everything OFF: And ON:
Mhh the player time tick is nearly unchanged put it probably doesn't pick up the power armor. I guess we gonna need to do a test with a clean environment. There is too moch going on a server with more than 20 players.
look at the 2nd picture you showed, shows you at the TOP of the list using 96% of the tps and the top one shows you using 64% of the TPS
chugga that is only in relation to the chunk, you need to look at the tick/time which difference is nearly nothing.
ok, but yes we still need a cleaner envoirment because of the playercount being so high probably affecting the outcome
