My question is why did we add the infinity lava tank? why not just start giving out creative energy cells.(sarcasm)
because 40 players all with an ender-thermic pump setup in the nether is terrible for the server due to all the chunk loading that would happen (that's a LOT of chunks, when you add player bases to the mix). And, no, I seriously doubt anyone's going to hand anyone a creative energy cell for anything less than a Reika Fusion Reactor
I would rather have the reactor then the energy cell add it had a higher output then the cell. Ever built one? It produces stream, and can be used to create ic2, rf, mj, fz charge, railcart charge, joules, you name it and steam can make it.
Taken straight from the staff discussion, here are a few of the gains for the servers. Public lava means less/no need for ender-thermic pumps. Thus reducing the amount of active chunkloaders. Less griefs related to ender-thermic pumps and tanks. A fair share of the griefs on multiple servers have been related to ender-thermic pump setups. Longer intervals needed between Nether dimension resets. As you can see, it was to alleviate server stress, as well as help the player base in terms of griefing incidents and prolong the farmworlds life-time.
A better option would be to ban the endothermic pump, thus removing this issue in the first place (baning from placing not making because we need it to make the ender quarry) You can make energy with other types of sources and there are machines that fabricate lava. Making the infi lava tank was a bad choice but that is for the staff to decide.
I think restricting gameplay options is a seriously poor choice, no matter what the game is. This is the solution that solves the most problems, while creating the fewest issues, and restricting player choices in the lowest impact way.
On the other side it does increase the servers popularity by giving the players an ingame boost while making the servers run better. BAM, that is the reason!
Actually, eAndPi already gave the reasons. If you feel wronged by the infinite lava tanks, somehow, you could always post a thread to the suggestions forum, and plead your case for their removal there.
booker, it produces billions of rf/t at least, the best can create INSANE ammounts, i'm not sure just HOW much, but making one is basically a creative energy cell, permanently, with more power output
how many do you need for a steady production? What is your personal issue with the "free" lava? The recipe contains an ender thermic pump, thus it doesn't bypass the progression to this point. In other words once you get an ender thermic pump, is there any huge difference despite the little energy usage and needed movement from time to time. I was against it but I gotta say that with this recipe I don't see a big difference from the progression part, letting the advantages out weight. Just as quick information, the issue is not the loaded chunks, it is more the light level update which happens once a lava block is being replaced. Many don't know that the light level is also calculated on server side, (think about mobspawn)
IF you dont like the Lava as power DONT use it!!! This feature is in place to better the server performance wise and keep the nether from looking like a stone tomb. Once you make an Ender thermic pump... you have infinite lava... so whats the difference? If you are like me and only use lava where its needed like TiCon, then this isnt an issue. I personally dont use lava as power as i feel its an escape goat to really playing. Also you can make RF solars that do like 32k Rf/t, why would you rely on lava when you can use less resources to make more power by other means....?
Solar expansion mod i believe. there are like 5-6 triers Its like Advanced solars but for RF instead of EU
Love that mod. One reactor from greg or rotary craft cam out produce a creative energy cell. I can match a creative cells output with a couple of the new ic2 reactors. Really though, why do people need so much power? I usually run a passive reactor or a small active +4 turbines. (This question does not take in to accountil uu matter)
People tend to over do everything in modded for no reason other then... they can. Its one of the reasons i stopped playing modded for a while. You can acquire unlimited supplies to use on NOTHING. In vanilla a good set of armor and tools with enchants is a feat.... in modded people have an ME system full of them that they will never use. I never understood why people need 100k of any item just to say they have it. I can see in vanilla people saying they have chests of diamonds because thats a feat.... in modded it takes a few hours and a TiCon hammer.
or if your me 1/2 an hour and an iron pickaxe (more vanilla jokes!)[DOUBLEPOST=1425421987,1425421939][/DOUBLEPOST] also i said, a creative energy cell, with ALOT more power output
After I get a decent amount of materials is to design my base to be super effecient. Or try out mods I'm not familiar with. Or build things. As a matter of fact, I'm doing that now in crash landing, building a MASSIVE palace... almost a million blocks will be placed...
