So... this is basically hunting down the damaged villages and posting their coords for use in staff investigation and any players that want to help by repairing the damage. By making this list I'm hoping that if staff decides to intervene in the matter of glitched villages I can reduce the time it takes. I'm also listing instructions on how players can help each of the damaged villages. A polite request to fellow players, PLEASE STOP TAKING BLOCKS FROM MILLENAIRE VILLAGES!!!!! You can buy either the blocks or in the case of the hindi the mold used to make their mud bricks at the village town center. To pay for it, try selling a stack each of cobblestone, bread and oak logs. All are beginning goods that new players can produce quite easily with a little time and effort. STEALING BLOCKS FROM MILLENAIRE VILLAGES IS UNNECESSARY! To help your local millenaire villages advance, refer to the town center's board, which will tell you what they want to build and what they need to complete it. sell them the requisite materials and they'll build the building on the board. If it says "not enough room" fill in holes, lava pits and water until they start building. I'm writing this from the Hindi District in the Regrowth server... Damaged village - Gajadarpur - Gaanv (farming village) Town center missing floor causing the seller to glitch. Overcome this by trying to click the vendor with an empty hand. Players that want to help can sell mud bricks to the village, this only requires one sand and one dirt each. Cooking the bricks in the oven makes their advanced building material "cooked brick" and adds 2d to their value. Coordinates - -596, -878, 64 Blocks and floor missing from hindi house coordinates - -731, -1057, 69 Glitched town center specifically leaders and vendor glitch is the "i'll be right there" chat spam -579, -1066, 64 House missing planks -561, -1077, 64 House missing walls (and i mean all of them) -550, -1177, 63 Town center of Belwania holes in walls - 571 -1154 66 In addition high probability of Belwania partially overlapping and overriding the nearby town which could potentially cause the two towns to glitch. Currently no danger of this at present. Now i'm going to make a seperate post for the normans, starting from the north and working my way to the southernmost.
The normans are midevil french, and its no exageration to say the mod makers favored and developed them the most. Their primary building materials are wood, cobblestone and timber frame with some stone mixed in. They will also require glass and wood come mid tier. The norman district on regrowth server is extremely crowded, as a player who knows the mod I'd reccomend thinning the herd enormously. With apologies to Tyler who put the first few villages there and whoever decided to go completely Bat poop on the French. However, that area is now quite laggy. Further this is the district I have the most personal stake in being fixed because its a couple thousand blocks north of my base. Another player Chanty is 500 blocks further north from me, his base is being lagged as well. Edit: as of 8:36 EST I have crashed twice while inspecting Norman territory. I am NOT amused. As I've said... the norman district is far too crowded. I'd encourage staff to reset village containing chunks wherever a town center is missing or has holes in it. I also HIGHLY encourage players not to live too close to the villages. I can't stress this enough... IF YOU CLAIM A MILLENAIRE TOWN CENTER OR BUILDING AND THEN DISAPPEAR AND YOUR CLAIM CHUNKS ARE RESET, IT WILL CAUSE THE VILLAGE TO GLITCH, CONFUSING THE MOD'S AI AND CAUSING LAG. THERE ARE HOUSES DESIGNATED FOR PLAYER USE THAT YOU CAN BUY FROM THE VILLAGE LEADER, SOME OF THESE ARE ON THE MAP ALREADY BUILT AND MAKE GREAT TEMPORARY SHELTERS. PLEASE USE THESE INSTEAD OF SQUATTING IN TOWN CENTERS!!!!!!!! Glitched town center vendor -1719 -1522 69 Glitched villager spawn/sleep point, no house for them to sleep in -1759 -1532 69 Glitched Abby (vendor spam glitch, glitched signs) Player squat point sighted, please do a check to see if the person has been on, and if they've been gone for more than two weeks remove their stuff. I've lit a stretch of land around it. -1806 -1512 Glitched vendors at market, is within a protected zone, please do a welfare check and remind player that claiming a town center and then leaving may result in the village becoming glitched. -2019 -1457 Tavern missing logs -1934 -1434 Town center claimed by player, Weskryptic Weskryptic if you leave for more than two weeks the erasure of your base within the town center will cause the village to glitch. Please maintain your base or alert staff when your claim chunks are reset so that they can prevent the server from glitching. -1966 -1451 Missing town center, leaders sleeping in midair -1874 -1269 Pigfarm pen cut in half by chunk reset -1909 -1278 Bakery with huge holes and bad patch job -1902 -1313 Home with broken windows -1946 -1368 Village boundaries overlapping/town centers too close -1951 -1419 Wheat farm has been stripped by squatters and not replaced -1707 -1432 Patched hole in town center, left note for squatter in chest in cieling, scoreboard glitched. -1718 -1324 TOOK ME OVER AN HOUR DAGNABIT![DOUBLEPOST=1481809206,1481767017][/DOUBLEPOST]missed a norman village that was further south than the others last night. Tierceville le lac is missing most of its buildings including town center. i attempted to fix the problem with a dolly and hopper to move a chest from one house to the area where the town center is. My game crashed from the attempt. These guys are also a lag source because without a town center I can't gain status in the village and increase their friendlieness towards the other cultures. Therefore they are raiding other towns and will continue to do so until removed. They're also spilling cows all over, so if you're worried about people jumping progression that may be a problem to. The scoreboard is sitting on an outcroping of hardened sand, the V command will lead you right to it. -1934 -190[DOUBLEPOST=1481810479][/DOUBLEPOST]RIGHT i made it to one of the villages, only to realize how staff may or may not have inadvertantly glitched it by wiping the terrain. Ouchijuku is the japanese village that attacked spawn. Staff wiped the village, or appears to, physically from the map. The AI for millenaire doesn't take map wiping into account. So its treating it like there's still a village there. Someone needs to take the wand of negation to this point, it has to be someone with creative access because to my knowledge there's none available on the map... -133 -27 they need to use the wand of negation on this point to disband the village. I have to say this in all caps for emphasis so that it sticks in people's brains in general. MYM PROTECT EX IS NOT ACCOUNTED FOR IN THE PROGRAMMING OF MILLENAIRE'S AI. JUST WIPING A VILLAGE OUT WITH A CHUNK RESET IS NOT ENOUGH. YOU HAVE TO USE A WAND OF NEGATION ON IT OR THE MOD WILL ASSUME THE VILLAGE IS STILL THERE OR USE SERVER RESOURCES WHILE IT GLITCHES TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON.[DOUBLEPOST=1481816514][/DOUBLEPOST]hachinoue +49 -135 is empty but villagers are still there. Japanese house minus walls +16 +1662 Japanese house with hole in the wall -54 +1446 whoever put all these random planks outside the houses I swear to god i'm gonna wring your neck. wheat farm minus walls -110 +1586 I mean this sarcastically, here's a great looking village with villagers that do things by themselves and sell you stuff! Lets go break it! house with hole in wall -147 +1604 market with blocks missing -44 +1688 farm village has no town center -26 +1797 village archives ripped open -55 +1643 village inn ripped open -58 +1632 guard's house ripped open -83 +1607 pretty sure thats everything in the japanese district
To effectively clean the mess would require us to stop the server, remove the mod, clear out the villages in their entirety, add the mod back in then come up with a clever way to restrict them from being tampered with.
or you could use the wand of negation on the villages that don't have town centers so that the ai stops glitching. as an administrator you have access to creative mode so you aren't restricted to trying to make all the items you'd need. There's no recipe for wand of negation, you have to loot it. It disbands a village and makes the people in it disappear for good. for example, the japanese villages near spawn were wiped out from the point of view of the people playing on the server, but the mod views those villages as still being there because the wand was never used. So its sending villages to raid a place that no longer exists. I'm writing in here because I believe there is a medium between reinstalling millenaire in the mod and stopping the server ect and just letting it go like this. More than most players active on regrowth I have a fairly good grasp of Millenaire and what will glitch the system and won't. If the town center is functional, most destruction to villages is self correcting. Glitch inducing, but self correcting. But because you have privelages, you can solve it by interfering directly or indirectly. In this case indirectly meaning using the mod to correct itself and directly meaning actions similiar to what you described. In fact I don't favor that course of action because its not fair to the owners of player owned villages like King who have kept theirs carefully secured and leveled to full strength. Think of Millenaire less as a mod and more as a real time strategy game like Age of Empires or Sim City or Starcraft. You can within certain perameters edit what it does with a minimum of disruption. The problem with staff and millenaire is that you guys seem to only be thinking like minecrafters on how to solve the problem rather than millenaire-ers or rtsers. There's very little like Millenaire in existance in minecraft, it can't be compared to other mods and has to be taken on its own terms and rules when maintaining it. Edit: How about this, try the wand of negation solution on the towncenter less villages, and compare server stat readings afterwards for a week. If it goes horribly wrong, then disregard the rest of my advice and let things go as they were going. But i'm telling you this, as nicely and bluntly as I possibly can, when dealing with millenaire, you aren't being imaginative enough. There's no other mod in minecraft you can compare it to. Edit: anyway the point of this post is data collection wyndman, i'm trying to be your eyes and ears so that in case staff decides to do something that isn't as direct and to the point as reinstalling the mod you have coords to follow. That way I'm saving you a lot of searching around.
Or you could realize that after a town center is glitched that the wand does not work. Or maybe you could not be such an entitled child, and realize that the ideas you have, we already had before the first time we wiped the server for the update. Thank you for the locations of the towns, and I am sure that the staff is working on a way to resolve the issues. Also, stop acting like you are the only one who knows anything. It just makes you sound stupid.
you don't have to be mean about it. I'm not trying to be an entitled prick I just think there's a way for this to be solved without ruining it for the players who like millenaire. But besides that holes in buildings #triggered me like crazy. Either way the purpose of this thread is primarily to collect cords of the damaged buildings and villages. Even with creative flight crossing those distances between village clusters can take quite awhile. And other than the V command you don't really get much of an idea of where to search. Not to mention the V command has a 2k block limit.
I have heard Reaper in game spending a ton of time trying to fix the villages and help people along with the mod. This is one of the servers that has a low staff presence. He has spent alot of time here describing the issues as he see's it. It appears that he is asking for help on the items he is unable to fix without admin access. If the methods he describes are not adequate for the way MYM does things it would be best to propose another method of helping to fix the issue raised.
@ReaperDragon4 Don't be mean? First off, I'm not. It is called being honest. Second, take you own advise. You have recently posted multiple threads in which you are verbally abusive towards staff and the work they do. You say your not trying to be an entitled prick, but that is exactly how you are comming across. And if the purpose of this thread is for people to list locations of broken villages, then you could of course keep your judgements to yourself and post locations. @Decnav He is more then welcome to come to staff, and to suggest ideas on how to fix things. That is actually encouraged. What he is not allowed to do is to berate staff or the effort they put into the servers in a negative fashion. That is both childish and not constructive to solving the issue.
I dont speak up much anymore, keep to myself, but all I see from Reaper is someone helping. Rereading his post I fail to see him being demeaning in any manor and is only trying to help. Maby its because I read this thread first I am seeing it in a different light. Some people, myself included, have no desire to be staff and I have been here longer than most. Thats why I'm grateful to all the people who volunteer their time to this site become the awesome community it is today. You dedicated a ton of time into this place, and thank you for it, the quality of you work was apparent.
I am NOT being verbally abusive! I've been trying my hardest NOT curse like a sailor because usually when something is broken and gets my dander up my response is about a minute of swearing before you can get anything out of me. I am TRYING to respect the rule about profanity, and as a fairly loudmouthed adult human being I find that hard. Besides that, I have not heard anything that sounds like feedback about my ideas. Instead bits of this and that that are completely different from what I suggested. Everything from we'd have to reinstall the mod (by the way Wyndman that would destroy my house, as I desperately wanted timber frame and not the granite I originally settled for), to "we don't have the time to fix all that." And booker, you and wyndman are the ones that made this thread about anything other than a list of data. You should have been able to tell by the title. I addressed wyndman's concerns by saying in a nutshell that outside the box thinking was required when dealing with Millenaire mod in general and that within the rules of the mod it was possible to fix that. You then implied, but did not explicitly state that staff had tried to use the wand of negation on the glitched villages to no avail. I suck at reading people in general, but I do not intend malice, just venting and obsessiveness. This is also why in a previous thread when Slind suggested I apply for staff on regrowth in a previous post I refused, not only because the suggestion made me blush, but because I have a big mouth and when I'm angry its not pretty and I know it. Now, tomorrow I'm going to continue mapping. I'm not going onto the forums the rest of the night and probably not going on the server either.
If you read through closed bug reports for regrowth you would see the previous suggestions that have been tried, and ultimately failed. And while I didn't intend for you stop comming onto the forums, or from making suggestions, maybe taking more then a minute before posting might be a good idea if you are having trouble communicating your thoughts in a way that does not come across in a negative fashion.
