This is really just minor, more of an aesthetic issue apart from one case. It would be nice for modpacks where it's possible, to have all ingot types from one mod, for example the Thermal suite Ingots, or whatever is the preferred ingot type from the modpack. As it is now, they're often mixed. For example, on StoneBlock the Resource(+) kits contain IC² copper/tin ingots and Immersive Engineering's Lead/Silver ingots. Again, this is not really an issue since the OreDictionary is usually pretty good. One modpack where it's a (slightly larger) issue is Awakening, where the Resource Kit's Silver Ingots (Thermal) can only be used after melting them down and casting them into Metallurgy's Silver Ingots.
That sounds like it'd be a pain, and I can see where it'd be a problem. However, as far as I know, it'd be a lot of work to account for each ore dictionary reference for each modpack. So, unless the Staff and Development team have any input, I'd say this isn't a possibility. But, I don't have the final word by any means, obviously. Just providing my feedback.
I believe the easier solution would be just to ask for it to be changed on the servers where its an issue, Like as you said Awakening. As theirs no set way of knowing what the preferred ingot is until you get into the pack.
What if there was a crafting recipe that would allow you to make the silver in the the usable one? Simple solution.
Depending on the pack that could break progression, as some times recipies require a certain type of ingot or item and not the oredict
