I believe that the thread made that got crystal balls banned was under educated. I would put what I said there below, but the thread seems to be gone. Other than close range spying, the crystal ball has three other functions. -Using it barehanded "predicts the future", and can lead to the summoning of the baba yaga boss. -Using a bound waystone on it gives an extremely wide birds eye view of the area it is bound to. -Using your own taglock on it has the same function as a waystone of that immediate area. Now Yolju said he believed that there was no actual limit on the taglock spying. He is wrong. If it's within 150 blocks, it works, if farther, then not. It's that simple. And say someone being spied on opens a chest. All the person spying sees is someone staring at an empty chest, not the interface. And for Baba yaga, it's a boss that has a hard fight and a unique drop of it's hat, but is inaccessible without a crystal ball. As for the waystone, in order to bind one anywhere, you have to be able to put down a circle ritual, so is not possible to do in protected areas. I'm not asking to unban the crystal ball completely, but to modify out the parts you frown on.
I have to agree with you on this Doctorfoxwolf. I miss having the crystal ball for the terrain view setting
