As most of us know, a so called "hacker" came on to beyond and spawned in creative items, and drac items. And because of that, we got a 2 hour and 30 min roll back, throwing all our hard work into the trash for no apparent reason, because of someones error. First of all, all the creative items that he dropped could not be used, and the drac items aren't even that "end game" they could be obtained with little effort, as everyone on the server is already rich. This rollback was really uncalled for, with no valid reason, things like this is really making it hard to enjoy a already bad server, with all the lag and such. It also brings up the question on why the nearest save was 2 hours and 30 mins ago.
Backups are running every 3 hours. A save is not a backup. Creative items were shared and we made a decision for a rollback (as we always did in those cases, happened around 3 times during 4 years). Frankly a rollback of 2.5 hours is really not much. Most networks only do daily backups if at all. You might not have been affected by this, are endgame and don't care. But we do, we have always been striving for a fair game play, which is a big foundation for this decision.
oh im sorry but if your gonna *bleep* and moan just leave the stuff HAVE SAID TO DROP AND EXPLAINED WHY IT HAPPENED SO IF YOUR GONNA WASTE EVERYONES JUST LEAVR\E (sorry about im just tired of peopke wining for nothing)
I've stated that i'm on the side of the staff on this matter. hackers are real. people do devote the time to create hack clients that give them creative. the command ( /gamemode 1 ) will not work for a normal player. but hack clients work differently. they, somehow, pass as someone given creative access. so they enter creative mode and do whatever damage they feel like doing until they are caught, and banned. unfortunately this results in the necessity of a rollback. and as slind has already stated... i have played servers that don't even perform rollbacks when a hacker is online, ruining players bases, and destroying stuff. let alone ban them. some servers simply don't care. some don't even make backups. they want to fix a world problem? "Sorry everybody, some moron destroyed our spawn so now all your hard work is gonna get reset and we're gonna world edit a new spawn we found on planet minecraft." that is something i see far too commonly on servers. be grateful the rollback was only 2 1/2 hours. I, on the other hand, haven't always been so fortunate.[DOUBLEPOST=1491108107,1491093582][/DOUBLEPOST]I would also like to make a really valid point i forgot to mention, @bobthepig2 ... NOT EVERYONE, on the server is as rich as you imply; you can't talk about a few people on the server and speak for everyone. keep in mind the definition of everyone, being; " every person. " in the context of your comment, you're essentially saying that everybody on the server is rich. which is not true. and if you are rich, then why would you even need creative items?
Somebody being able to spawn in any items in JEI lol. Wouldnt be suprised if there were already tons of creative items spawned on all servers from a long time ago
...you really think a hack client will utilize JEI. the client puts the player in CREATIVE MODE, as utilizing JEI would require the /give command, which JEI/NEI both use in order to "spawn" items.[DOUBLEPOST=1491113578][/DOUBLEPOST]further support for my claim is that he had no clear items on hand that provided creative flight, thus meaning he had to be using creative mode.[DOUBLEPOST=1491115414,1491113505][/DOUBLEPOST]hey, just did a simple google search on crabbythefrog, he has been banned previously on another server. so yes, he is a hacker and NO, staff had no part in his actions.
