Any chance crap could be taken of the swear world list? It's very misleading seeing "I'm *****" and there is no way to distinguish it from other words that would better fill the *****.

I know what you mean, but the argument against from the staff is, do you want a 4/5 year old seeing that in chat?

That's what 4-5 year olds are saying nowadays. It's better than them actually swearing isn't it?

  5. Can't you just type c**p?
    Also, try to use synonyms.

What about fecal matter or faeces?

Besides the point. Crap isn't a swear word, and is used by teachers, children, and adults as a sub for swear words.

The swear filter also filters out words like "noob"(I heard a lot of complains about that. Also, people sometimes do bypass swear filter without even knowing it exists. Typing "n00b" instead of "noob" is getting popular all over the internet). Also I guess 90% of people think that guy that said "crap" or "noob" said the f-word.

Also, if crap cannot be taken out of the swear list, can swears and non-swears be cenzored in different ways? Like swears remaining "*********" and non-swears being cenzored with "#########" instead.

There's been an epidemic of swearing lately. Both nodes of crackpack it's pretty much every day. Most of the time no staff are on and it's continuous all throughout the night. Why the need to even use the word crap is beyond me. Perhaps the people who swear should broaden their use of the English language

I'm sorry, I didn't know this thread existed.
This server is for kids and adults. Not all of them are going to have the vocabulary of someone who is say 26.

I wou;d give a picture of a VERY well known 4Chan post that uses very exquisite language, but alas for me that would not be allowed due to the vocabulary included. But you seem to be missing something totally, the reason swear words are used often is that they convey a stronger meaning than other words, they also have a very special property of when you are in pain and they are used you can tolerate more pain, as it helps with pain management.

There are always acceptable substitutes for swear words. I admit using foul language does feel good, but one must consider the impact on others. Words like idiot, crap, and noob, may seem rather docile compared to the more hostile ones, but remember they're often used to insult and belittle other people. Even if they're used on oneself, do we really want younger people learning to liberally use such words, instead of reserving them for the most dire of circumstances? They have no place in Minecraft, where the rewards and losses do not have lasting effects nor do they carry over into reality. We should be educating younger people to be more tolerant, friendly, and helpful, instead of teaching them the use of these words is acceptable in everyday conversation. That's my contribution to the matter.

    Sincerely,

Hmm, but you must be forgetting that there are legitimate use cases inside of minecraft that do not insult someone, and there have been plenty of examples of this, but if you say that these words need banning why not also prevent the word "dumb", as it carries the same meaning with a lesser strength, but alas, banning it would ban any words of saying that something is of lesser intellect, of which would mean that it would be impossible to communicate said ideas, equivalent to banning an idea, of which I expressly protest.

More the reason to reprimand them not just let it go because "they're kids".

So a death in a game is equivalent to pain in real life? I'll quote a famous meme/gif- "it's only game, why you heff to be mad?"
All these "kids" have access to Skype as well as the server's teamspeak. It they wish to swear to one another feel free there
