hey guys a few of us on bteam 1 dont quite agree with your rules on taking from unclaimed bases dude to whats the point of having claims if you cant take anything anyway?
You're not supposed to take things from people according to the rules, yet some people decide to find people's places that are unclaimed and grief anyway. We have claims to protect from people doing that. -V
but surely if its unclaimed its fair game because we have no way of telling if someone lives there? you get given a golden shovel in the starter kit theres no excuse really?
Not everybody knows how to claim, or they don't have enough claimblocks to actually claim everything. Also i don't get what's the problem to get your own stuff by mining. There's no excuse for taking player-made stuff!
Please read the rule at Rules - MineYourMind 5.0 . It clearly labels anything player made or created is protected from grief.
Very much agree with statements made by Bluu and Ben85. To put it into more perspective. What if you had no idea how claims worked? Would you want your items be taken by someone with such a mindset? What if you were building a great build but did not have enough claim blocks to get it all, and won't for next few days? Would you want all of that taken? What if you've accidentally gone over your claim and did not realize it? That's a lot of what if's that can be put to rest with one simple rule. It is also one of the many great things of this Network. We want to assure safety, and the most enjoyment to be had while not having to have to worry about people who get too curious. And even if they do, we work hard to figure it all out and try to return what was lost. Please try to view it from a different point of view.
The most important point would be in my opinion that claims protect peoples stuff and therefore make it harder for griefers. And therefore also easier for staff to deal with those cases. On the other hand there are multiple reasons why people might not claim stuff. Most of them have been mentioned before. I want to add the example where someone might have his important machines and automation in a smaller claim (maybe 5x5 chunks), but then goes on and builds a whole city of 30x30 chunks, just because he can. Protecting that might be a bit difficult. Even for something "small" like a 10x10 chunk area, you would have to vote for a bit less than 2 months. (And then you still dont have tickets to keep your chunkloaders running.) It is quite simple. If you find something, that looks like someone put it there, then it is not yours to take. World generated stuff is in most cases clearly distinguishable from user generated content. If in doubt, just leave it alone or make a screenshot, open a ticket or forum thread and ask whether a particular place is world gen or not.
You are limited by the amount of claimblocks you have, some players like to build big and we don't want to limit them to their claims. So they can claim the center where they have the valuable stuff and leave the rest unprotected. The thumb rule is that items griefed from a non claimed area are not being returned to the player, but the griefer for bad behavior is still being given a time out. Further, on the old servers and in the past on every server you could not claim in all worlds besides the over world. This means that your quarry/farm... was unprotected and we don't want it to be ok, to take such items. Our goal is a social and friendly community, not something were new players that don't know how to claim are out of luck when they are being griefed or the actual thing of griefing (harassing/hurting/destroying a players game experience) being tolerated.
