I am simply not finding anything of worth in the overworld, farmworld, or the nether. Before the reset, I would frequently come across the lesser Nether metals such as alduorite, lemurite, shadow iron, midasium, or ceruclase. Frequently enough that I ended up with more of them than I had something to do with. I would infrequently come across mithril, adamantite, or atlarus in the overworld and farmworld alike. After mining out 5 chunks from y16 to bedrock in the farm world, countless branch mines in the overworld, and large chunks of the nether- I've got nothing. I've found some alduorite and vyroxeres, and one vein of 2 kalendrite in the nether. The craziest thing in the overworld/farmworld I've found was a vein of prometheum ore. There seems to be a noticeable different in the spawn rates of these ores. Did something change?
take a look at the bottom (config changes), not sure if it was changed that much but it was changed: Horizons 1.0.9 - Public Modpack Listings - Feed The Beast Horizons 1.0.10 - Public Modpack Listings - Feed The Beast Horizons 1.0.12 - Public Modpack Listings - Feed The Beast Looks like they should be rare.
Unfortunately the Metallurgy author does not keep a publicly available changelog so I don't know what's been changed other than "Lots of fixes". I know they're rare.. but they weren't always THIS rare.
1.0.9 Modified many aspects of world ore gen Disabled Ardite, Bauxite, Cobalt and Galena Ore 1.0.10 Disabled Bauxite, Cassiterite, Galena, Native Copper, Pentlandite, Ruby and Sapphire Ore 1.0.12 Decreased Spwan rate of Limestone and Red Sandstone Its nothing directly towards to Metallurgy.[DOUBLEPOST=1391106989,1391106931][/DOUBLEPOST]edit: our answer: Few, bad biomes | MineYourMind Community
Answer is a new world? Got it. Before you generate it out, can you verify that those rare ores such as adamantite and atlarus are spawning? I believe MCEdit with a filter can accomplish that.
I'm looking at this in MCEdit right now. Covering nearly the entire region that you generated, I'm seeing: Number of blocks analyzed: 126,638,744 For reference- Coal Ore: 602,028 Iron Ore: 474,309 Gold Ore: 67,228 Diamond Ore: 31,915 And Metallurgy Ores: Zinc: 38,038 Saltpeter: 18,442 Prometheum: 3330 Deep Iron: 342 Oureclase: 65 Carmot: 329 Orichalcum: 1039 That's all I'm getting for Metallurgy. That's missing a lot of ores and utility ores.. and those numbers seem way off from what I was experiencing on the server before the reset. Here's what I'm getting in the Nether for 11,768,625 blocks analyzed: Ignatius: 1623 Shadow Iron: 1599 Midasium: 5135 Vyroxeres: 4055 Ceruclase: 492 Alduorite: 1362 Vulcanite: 170 That goes exactly with my findings on the server. I find a decent amount of ignatius, a lot of Vyroxeres, and a lot more Alduorite than Ceruclase. I've found 2 or 3 pieces of Vulcanite. No Sanguinite has spawned, anywhere.
I generated that world with the default ftb configs for the mods Metallurgy is open source and the commits can be found here, if you would like to take a look. Commits · TeamMetallurgy/Metallurgy · GitHub But as it looks like the last update for 1.6.4 was 4 months ago, which would mean only ftb could have changed the ore gen for the mod.[DOUBLEPOST=1391175717,1391170486][/DOUBLEPOST]If you like you can take a look into this one. Its generated without biomes o plenty. Be aware its much smaller than the one I sent you before. I generated some overworld and nether. someRandomLevelSeedForHorizons
I'll check that one out and do some more digging (figuratively). I'll also look at the configs for Horizons to see if anything crazy happened. Edit1: So this is basically what the Metallurgy configuration looks like for pretty much all of the ores: Edit2: The ore distribution in the overworld for the second map was very similar to my original findings. The ore distribution in the nether was weird. This time, Sanguinite did spawn, as well as Lemurite. But Alduorite spawned with no Ceruclase, and it didn't generate a few of the ores that it did last time. This is weird. I'm gonna post on the FTB site about it.
Sorry I´m a bit busy at the moment, thats why I try to let you do most of it. An idea would be to download one of the first horizons server versions and compare the metallurgy vein config. The only problem is that we started with 1.0.2 if I´m reminding right.
I just checked the config files for the 1.0.6 version of Horizons at your suggestion, and it's the same stuff in the configs. HOWEVER, the 1.0.6 world generated all of the fantasy ores like it's supposed to. I posted in the modpack bugs forum and the quick questions thread on the FTB forum, so we'll see what other people have to say. Edit: This was the reply from the Horizons creator: Edit2: I showed him the numbers that I came up with earlier, and his response was- [DOUBLEPOST=1391198944,1391186937][/DOUBLEPOST]Ok so we've got some results in. The ore generation is funky. Horizon's mod pack creator is going to be adjusting the config files before releasing 1.1.0. So where does that leave us with the new map?
Thank you very much for helping out. I think it is best for us to wait until 1.1.0 is released and move the world than. Or should we move asap and just reset the farmworlds with the 1.1.0 update ? As we don´t know when they will release 1.1.
People are discussing it in the game currently, nobody is expecting it to happen soon. But I do know that some of the active players have their things packed up and ready to go and they're just waiting on the world to open. The only thing that we're waiting on right now is the metallurgy world gen. If that's the case, I can either make or acquire some config files for world gen and send them your way, that way we can have the new map with the new ore gen.
Go ahead with the new world, then when the pack is updated we can reset the farm world so that we can all mine the Metallurgy ores there.
