Not sure yet. However it will definitely be a while until this pack is out of beta so you will have plenty of time to play uninterrupted.
It's a server side mod that is optional client side. You don't have to have it to connect to the server but if you have it you can use it.
the pvp is pretty irrelevant. You're supposed to stop if asked and you can't fight players on their claims. With the world size being what it is...
