You didn't say that you are protected from the time paradoxes (You won't do anything you did before getting your hill because you have the hill)...
I tried being in pine forest, none did spawn for me. On SP, I tried foresthills biome, only one spawned there after 30 minutes with day/night...

After hours of playing and walking above ground or underground, I didn't see any pixons. Can the pixon spawn rate be increased or something done...
But it damages equipment on death.
I never used random teleport intentionally yet. Most of time on server I spend in dungeon (the dungeons are HUGE) and I never lost any items...
Something very close to this happened to me too. I was in dungeon and I saw only baby zombie, I didn't see any other mobs around and my FPS...
