    BetterQuesting Mod

    - A How-To Guide to dealing with the klunky interface.

There are two quest types in BetterQuesting, Retrieval and Crafting, and I will address them seperately. You can tell which type of quest you are on by selecting your desired quest, and looking above the list of required items, pretty simple eh?

    Retrieval Quests

A retrieval quest asks you to gather a specific set of items to turn in. The questbook will tell you if it Consumes the items or not right above the list of required items. The first thing you need to know about Retrieval quests is that you must have all of the required items in your inventory at the same time. No turning the items in piecemeal!

If any tools, weapons, or armour are required, they must be at 100% durability. Brand new or fully repaired should work, so no pawning off your used or busted down gear! Equally important is to make sure you are matching the listed items exactly, if it says Oak Saplings, it means OAK!

At this point, you have everything you need to complete the quest, and you should be gathering your rewards. Sometimes however, things go a little sideways. Close the questbook, place the items into your hotbar, and reopen the questbook. Click the Detect button a time or two, if needed. If quest is asking for blocks that can be placed, such as a Capacitor Bank or Berry Bush, place it on your Island, break it and pick it back up. This nearly always does the trick!

    Crafting Quests

This category is the easier of the two. The most important thing to keep in mind is that the BetterQuesting mod does not allow credit for items crafted before the quest is unlocked. This means if you build something BEFORE the questbook asks for it, you will ahve to build it again! Yes, this can suck at times, but that is the way it is.

    In Closing

Armed with the simple tricks above, you should have no problems using the Better Questing mod any longer. Now you may still be wondering why the good old Hardcore Questing Mod (HQM) has been replaced in some modpacks (Project Ozone) or used in newer packs (Forever Stranded) and that question is best left up to the Modpack Authors.

BetterQuesting is more server friendly on the back end. Furthermore, the BetterQuesting Devs are aware of the issues with their interface (it is a Known Issue on their Github) and will be improving it!

Almost forgot, if the Quest Book gives you trouble scrolling down, you need to adjust it's config settings. Open the ESC Menu -> Mod options -> BetterQuesting -> Config -> General -> Gui Height and GUI Width. I use 500 High x 800 Wide on a 16:9 ratio (standard Widescreen format) monitor and have no problems.

Doesn't seem to fix it for me, any other tips that would make it work?

Doublecheck that the gui height and width changes took. Other than that not sure, sorry.
