Should flower Withering be enabled, and if so how often?

heres an idea for a mana system that u can (not very) easily spam: 8 floating thermalilies, placed 1 block above and around a fountain from Thermal expansion, which is hooked up to 1, a power system, and 2, the infinite-lava ender tank.

i suggest using the enderIO pipes for it, as they are easily compacted.

it works, i had like 9 of these setups on tdt, 1 terrasteel every 5 mins, long as u can get it distributed fast enough. i suggest havin the setup(s) firing into a central pool, with a distribution spark (the one that sends mana to other pools) going to other pools setup around the mana gen.

XD[DOUBLEPOST=1438093605][/DOUBLEPOST]lol a spark is 6 blaze powder, 1 gold nugget and 2 mana petals of any color, but they have to be same color.

lol[DOUBLEPOST=1438093844][/DOUBLEPOST]but you only need 1 pixie dust to make the augment.. thatll do until u get a steady enough stream of mana to keep portal open 24/7[DOUBLEPOST=1438093873][/DOUBLEPOST]at that point i suggest upgrading the spreaders to the elven variety[DOUBLEPOST=1438094514][/DOUBLEPOST]also, 2 minecraft days isnt even an hour real time. thats a bunch of BS[DOUBLEPOST=1438096796][/DOUBLEPOST]also,u could have a lava generator, and 1 tank feeding all the fountains. MAXIMUM EFFECIENCY![DOUBLEPOST=1438097366][/DOUBLEPOST]WAIT, cant u just break the flowers and then replace them the next day to avoid the withering?

I agree that the withering should be disabled or at least the time it takes lengthened as the withering causes very little mana to be generated before the flower dies. This makes progression a VERY lengthy process as new flowers constantly need to made that don't consume anything in exchange for mana.

It seems like a good feature to me. The affected flowers are very easy to make and this setup prevents players for setting up a big field of set and forget flowers. They provide enough mana to progress to the more usefull flowers.

Well... even if it says infinity, I wonder if this poll might be used as general "What to do with the setting" for the servers. So even I only play on the Regrowth-server I will throw my thoughts (and a vote) in.

I think a minecraft-week is good for the withering effect. Else you see too many "Hundreds of hydrogeas"-towers for mana-generation because they're set one time and then you can forget about them.
I have read quiet often someone say "I just crafted one/two stacks of hydrogeas, mana-supply is safe" or something along these lines. Many don't even really care for all the other - more work included - mana-generating flowers, so I think these three flowers are okay to be limited in how long they can be used.

    [edit]
Only thing which I think is sad about this setting:
Even when using higher-tier-mana-flowers I still usually like to have a daybloom/nightshade field for the look of it, so some nostalgic botania-feeling when you look at the field and know that's the flowers you started with.

I personally thought 1 minecraft week was the fairest option.. not my fault opinion got mostly split between the no wither and the 2 day wither camps instead of all compromising on 7 ;)

    After going throu changelogs and actual conversations that the mod author has posted about this very subject;
    1. the MOD AUTHOR set this as the default for the mod.
    2. It was asked to NOT change it to another value.
    3. It was asked of modpack creators to leave this enabled.
    4. Modpacks on MYM that this is enabled on have had the MODPACK AUTHOR decide to abide by the Mod-Authors request, and AGREED WITH IT.
So we can come to the conclusion that THIS IS HOW THE MOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED.
    1. It only affect the PASSIVE manna generation.
    2. Massive passive generation is Laggy.
    3. The amount of manna you produce off of ONE non-passive flower is massively greater then a multiple of passive flowers.
      • One endoflame produces 300 Mana every 3 ticks.
      • One Hydroangea produces 150 Mana every 40 ticks.
      • This means that one endoflame outproduces 26 Hydroangeas.
    4. Math (LCD is 6 sec) 6 *20 Tick/sec= 120 Ticks. Over 3 seconds....
      • (120 / 3) * 300 = 12000 Mana
      • (120 /40) * 150 = 450 Mana
      • 12000 / 450 = 26.666~
So... I say leave it as it is and we can have less laggy basses due to massive manna generation.
