Never could disagree with this, keep your sanity. Also, Everybody is talking about MMO RPG's, in the title it clearly states MMO, MMO's are like world of war craft, massively multiplayer online, or something upon those lines, MMO RPG's or RPG's are stuff like medieval with magic skills and stuff, easiest way to do this, runescape is an MMO-RPG, take out the massive servers and its an RPG, but I assume fizzy is referring to mmo rpgs.

RPG- Role Playing Game... does not need to be medieval or magic. It could be anything. You can role play as anything... if you really wanted to.

While i do like this idea, i can not say it enough.... plugins are the way to go, not mods.

Hey, I don't see much wrong with Ars Magica 2, and I'm working on a modpack with 83 mods at the moment, and it's been working fine so far lol.

Edit: Not forcing anyone to use AM2, just saying it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.

Then you have not tried to use it on a server or with more than 10 players at a time.

AM2 is horrible in 1.7.10. The project was neglected.
You should look at this... if you think AM2 is not bad.

If there is any other alternative for MODS which add combat magic (not plug ins) please tell me, I'm not super attached to am2 but it seems to be the only real choice for combat magic

I haven't really found any good combat magic mods that particularly have a huge offensive focus to them, unless you really awkwardly force them to, most are for utility with mostly self-defense tools. Witchery is best to be used at afar, Thaumcraft is... Well, don't use Thaumcraft for fighting unless it's a mob, unless you have an addon like Tainted Magic, Witching Gadgets, or Thaumic Tinkerer that actually adds some offensive power to TC, and Blood Magic is a little situational in its uses, the armor sucks out LP like crazy especially if you take a lot of damage... Botania is a magic-themed tech mod, so i guess that counts, but it does add one thing that's really good, which is Terrasteel, also there's Avaritia if that interests you lol. Or if you want to go so far as to count ANYTHING, Zelda Sword Skills has somewhat of a magic system in it, using your hunger, but some (a lot) of things are glitchy. But if you're looking for something similar to Ars Magica 2... I don't think there's anything really too similar to its system, really, except PSI which is 1.8 and up. Tl;dr: PSI/some Thaumcraft addons are a somewhat decent replacement if you miss AM2.

While I certainly can't offer as good of a thought as everyone else, I'd say try to keep the modpack light (Less then 70 mods). Try to put in custom configs and such for magic mods and try out some mods that would make survival just that much more fun.

    Some mods I'd recommend anytime:
    1: Any world gen mod
    2: Your customary magic mods
3: Aether 2 (Fits with skyblock theme)
4: Spice of life (Make survival that much more difficult)

Might come back and give more suggestions once my brain starts functioning as I'm still on fever meds.

There are plugins that you could use for combat magic etc, custom configs aswell, and also texturepacks are quite good at this.[DOUBLEPOST=1473511463][/DOUBLEPOST]Like masking you using a powertool

Oh. I forgot, Chocolate Quest or whatever it's called does have some magic staves, but I've found that they usually do not work on most servers. It also has some terrain generation good for those who like to explore the world... and now that I remember, Blood Magic does have some kind of spell system, but I haven't ever seen it enabled on a server before. Witchery also has some kind of wand, but it's not really... a combat weapon, more a self-defense tool. In my opinion, AM2 would be relatively fine as long as everybody's not spamming a certain starstrike spell, or screwing up the server somehow with a contingency spell, happened on another server I played on and it made the server go down everytime they joined and they had to get a full wipe of their stats, basically they had it on them, but they didn't have the spell or something, so it overworked things. But hey, that's a worst-case scenario.

Keep in mind though that Armourer's Workshop is basically just something to reskin weapons/armor, and from what I've heard it has some issues with certain mods, but I'd love to see it in a modpack finally.

Pretty boring Mod, not sure if it's updated to the version that you may be using. But i think some Balkons Weapons mod would help early game combat.
