That would certainly be the better option for allowing keep inventory... personally I'm not sure if that makes things too easy once you reach the rank to unlock it though, because I distinctly remember on M+ when a significant portion of the playerbase had made the keep inv gene and then basically stopped considering death as something that should be avoided and more just a mild annoyance....

After having a think about it at work today, I kind of like the idea of having something along the lines of 2x Charm of Keeping II for every rank up (consumed on death if in inventory, saves the 4 armor slots and full hotbar but not main inventory.. though 4x can be crafted into 1x Charm of Keeping III which keeps full inv), and a Charm of Life I (consumed on death, instantly restores player to half health and gives defensive buffs) at ranks 5, 10 and 15, then finally enable the permanent keep inventory perm at rank 20 (which coincidentally is called Necromancer, so fits pretty well!), after which it could switch to a Charm of Life I on every rank since Charm of Keeping would then become redundant, and go on to give Iron Golem health at rank 25 and EnderDragon Health at rank 30.

That way it gives early-game players a limited, but gradually replenishable safety net for saving their most valuable items on death, and if a player makes it two ranks without dying they can craft the 4xCoKII into a single CoKIII to save their full inv instead, as well as giving a single use CoLI for escaping death altogether on the first 3 milestone ranks, and then finally the permanent keep inventory when they hit the big milestone of rank 20 and so on.

Best of all, this would give players who either have decent survival/combat skills or a more cautious play-style who manage to go several ranks without a single death something they can sell to the less skilled or more risk-taking players.

I agree this might be more balanced, the only problem would be giving players that have already been player for a long time all of the items they have earned from thier past ranks esspecially since many players might have full inv

Giving rewards in form of items would only make us trouble. Consider, you switch from one server to another and keep your ontime/rank or a server resets and you already passed the reward before. Another thing is that the auto-promotion does not work 100% fine, so I would like to narrow it down to permissions.

Ahh, well keep inventory perm at rank 20 is still my recommendation then, though it should also be possible to unlock it earlier as a donation tier perk (possibly tier 2?), also perhaps we could have a few of the other donor perks available as ontime perks too, like /workbench at 5 (Field Worker), /feed at 10 (Farmer), /back at 15 (Scientist), /fly at 25 (King) and /god at 30 (Demigod) for example, so all users, even those who can't afford or don't have the means to donate can still gain some of the perks simply through loyalty, while still incentivising those who can donate to do so to unlock the perks immediately.

I still think there's something to be done for early-mid game players with the Twilight Forest Charms though, what about having them permanently listed on the market as an artificial money sink to help keep the economy from over-inflating so much (kinda like how you can buy extra lives on Agrarian)?
How about Charm of Keeping I for 25 myms, since players could then buy multiple and craft up if they want to (Charm of Keeping II = 100 mym (4*25) and Charm of Keeping III = 400 mym (4*100))?

I think this is a very good idea, although I would think an idea other than /workbench for rank 5 would be better as there are so many alternate options
ex: portable crafting bench, clipboard, and /fly is a bit useless at rank 25, although it does save power which could be useful(as at rank 25 you probably have multiple different options for flying(I did by rank 17) Ex: BM air sigil, Quantum suit, uprising focus, or similarly staff of traveling, which is faster, or even more so sigil of haste(if it is fixed.))[DOUBLEPOST=1399171985,1399171890][/DOUBLEPOST]the /back and keepiventory seem like great ideas though and the ranks at which they are earned seem balanced, and I guess if you reach rank 25 the fly will be amazingly useful[DOUBLEPOST=1399171998][/DOUBLEPOST]30 not 25*
