That is incorrect. The quest book is required for a lot of the essences used to make the seeds, unless you get incredibly lucky with dungeon loot.

 

Well, is not quest skipping the iron gold or things like that because to unlock the seeds you steel need to unlock the essence of this seed few times to make it.
