There needs to be some kind of money sink like the charges on the market with the current system of getting mym for voting as you are constantly getting new mym coming into circulation. Without mym leaving circulation through money sinks like the charges or the few server-sold items their value starts to depreciate hugely leaving newer players starting off pretty much priced out of the market. The current system isn't perfect, but at least it slows this down.

Yeah it would be good if the funds the server takes went into an account which funded building priavte player shops instead or something cool like that

The first situation you would get the market flooded with crap and bogus sales like people could just spam hundreds of lots of junk for thousands of mym each and not think twice about it because its win-win for them if they just sell one thing. The second situation would mean that the up-front charge would have to be a lot bigger, putting people who's items don't sell at a huge disadvantage

there's both, which is why i said i'd collect 10 myms per 20 myms of stuff on the market, rediculous ammount of these "taxes"

I calculated that with 20% tax rate on post and collect you get 64% of the income maybe if we reduce the tax lvl this migh help perhaps?

I'm fairly sure that the rate for listing an item is 5%, not 20

It takes a cut both before and after, at least on infinity anyway, haven't tested on other modpacks..
    2015-05-08_12.04.53.
I had 3,109 MyMs to start, then listed an item for 100 MyMs and was charged a listing fee of 5 MyMs taking me down to 3,104
    2015-05-08_12.04.57.
Then when the item sold and I collected the proceeds the market took an 18% cut of the sale of 18 MyMs, meaning even though the transaction log states a market cut of 18, the amount I actually got for the sale was only 77 so I ended up on 3,186 and was charged 23.

There has been a discussion on that, I will see if I can find the post but I did the math on it and by using the market you are making more money still[DOUBLEPOST=1431100566][/DOUBLEPOST]

It wasnt so much the market fee itself that I have an issue with, it's the fact that it takes it in two parts, if the market cut really must be ~23% (which itself seems a strangly arbitrary amount but hey) then I'm sure a lot of people would rather it just be 23% taken from the sale proceeds on collection and not have to pay a listing fee up front..

There has been a number of times I've seen players moaning in chat about not having enough myms to list their items which seems kinda silly to me!

The listing fee keeps "crap" from plauging the market though thats why it is there

It doesn't really stop that though as you can list a crap item for 10 myms or less and it doesn't cost anything up front as 5% of 10 myms is 0.5 which is too low to charge.

I admit the one good thing the upfront fee does is discourage people from listing things at unrealistically high prices but if a player with no myms happens to get their hands on something that genuinely is valuable (like a rare mob soul on infinity for example which can sell for as much as 2k depending on type) they could be left unable to afford the upfront cost for it.
